Make Learn's project promoting craft in schools - artist Stefanie Cheong

We were asked to make three short films to accompany MAKE Learn’s pilot schools project promoting craft in schools. Each film highlighted a particular artist and accompanied an activity pack for children to explore a particular craft technique. You can see the complete films as well as more details over on Make Learn’s website here, but we have made a short cut from the film to share here to give a flavour, as we think it’ll be of interest to adults as well as children.

We were familiar with Stefanie Ying Lin Cheong’s work way before we met to film her for MAKE Learn project as so many of our friends wear her jewellery and her pieces are always an excellent talking point! We had a fantastic time capturing her in action on a beach in Fife and chatting about geology and James Hutton while searching for rocks that would be suitable for her new pieces, geotagging their location and even melting some silver right there on a beach! Stefanie’s work is underpinned by ethical making that considers process, business practices and use of materials.
