Public art commission for East Lothian Community Hospital

We were commissioned to create a series of photo collages for the brand new buildings of East Lothian Community Hospital, in particular creating two large scale collages - a triptych and a diptych - for the main atrium and the entrance hall. Each of the triptych and diptych actually comprise one continuous image cut into three and two. The theme of the works is ‘a portrait of East Lothian’ and we spent many months cycling around East Lothian and photographing and stitching together all the source images for the collages, including extensive use of drone.

In addition, we invited the staff of ELCH to have their portraits taken (you can see many of these on this page), and we wove a selection of these portraits as details into the collage, so that the collage became a kind of game of hunt-the-portrait. The idea being that the collage could be viewed from far away, or up close in minute detail.
