Next in our Creators' mini-series: Helen Miles' playful modern take on an ancient Roman tradition

Hidden in a number of unexpected locations around Edinburgh are a series of playful guerrilla mosaics which  lie between classic art and graffiti. Mosaicist Helen Miles’ work gives an exquisite modern twist to the ancient Roman technique.

In the next short film in our mini-series of chats with creators at Edinburgh’s Abbeymount Studios, Helen tells us all about her motivations, her approach and her techniques.

Featuring a cameo role by Perdita the Cat.

With a modern and experimental take on the ancient art of creating mosaics, Edinburgh mosaicist Helen Miles, based at Abbeymount studios, takes us on a journey through her motivations, process - and an unexpected treasure of gorilla mosaics hidden around the city.
